Come on, admit it, who hasn’t secretly lusted after one of these glamorous roadsters ever since they were launched back in 1989?

Beautifully built and just exuding class, they were strictly for the rich and famous when new but have now dropped to a temptingly affordable price. A wide range of engines were available from a mighty 6-litre V12 to the creamy smooth 2.8-litre straight-six you see here. With 204bhp on tap, it could sprint to 60mph in around 9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 141mph with up to 33mpg economy.

This nicely presented example was sold new by Cardiff’s main Mercedes dealer in 1995. Returned to them in part exchange, they sold it once more in 2001 to a local gentleman, its second owner, for £34,000. He subsequently put it into his wife’s name, the car effectively having had just two owners from new, although the log book shows a total of three.

Sadly the service book is nowhere to be found, the vendor hoping to find it by the time of the sale, informing us that the car has been regularly serviced by the main dealer and the local Mercedes specialist. It was recently fitted with a new soft top, retains its original hard top and has now covered a total of 76,000 miles supported by 10 old MOTs.
