The Italian Moto Guzzi factory produced the Stornello range of motorcycles from 1960 through to 1974.

Guzzi's lightweight Zigolo 110cc machine was being outstripped by domestic opposition such as Gilera, Moto Morini, Ducati and MV Agusta who dominated the 1/8th litre capacity in the 1950s. To address this, Guzzi designed a 125cc four-stroke machine with a pushrod operated two valve engine producing 7bhp at 7,200 RPM and capable of 100kph.

The Sport version was offered from 1961, now with a hemispheric head which increased the compression to 8.5 to 1 and various other tuning mods which increased the output to 8.5bhp and added another 10kph to the top speed.

For 1964 a Regolorita (enduro/regularity) version was offered with off-road styling and an increase in power to 12bhp, this model going on to dominate off-road events in its class for many years. Further developments saw capacity increases to 150 and 160cc until Stornello production ended in 1974.

Thought by the vendor to date from 1961, this Stornello Sport 125cc has recently come from a collection in Italy and appears to be in superb restored condition throughout. Although it is not yet UK registered, this should be a straightforward process with the relevant DVLA form and no import duties are payable as it has come from within the EU.

Once registered it would make an ideal sporting machine for the Italian Giro events that are now seen by many as a way to have a motorcycling holiday while enjoying the sights and sounds of Italy. Go aboard a native machine and you will be doubly showered in that famous Italian hospitality!

Catalogue amendment; please note this machine dates from 1965 and not 1961 as catalogued. NOVA document to follow. We will retain all documents we have on file and send on the remaining paperwork when the NOVA is received.
