Barely a day goes by when you don’t see a Morris 1000 on the road. They are such a familiar sight that even to a classic enthusiast they barely raise a second glance.
Much of this is down to the original design, which was so good in its day that even 65 years on they can still perform as practical everyday transport. Light steering, miserly fuel consumption and with a perfectly adequate performance for most journeys, these have to be the ultimate ‘green machines’.
The first of our Morris Minors in the sale today is one of the more desirable 4-door saloons and dates from 1957. Purchased by the vendor in 2011 from a retired local Naval Officer when living in Scotland, it has proved immensely reliable, providing totally dependable service on local journeys ever since.
The vendor spent his professional career rebuilding cars for Practical Classics Magazine so understands the inner workings of the Morris Minor very well. An older restoration, he has done numerous jobs to the car to keep it in reliable, safe working condition, including fitting electronic ignition.
The interior is in good order, with recent carpets, good seats and a radio fitted under the dashboard, the vendor reluctantly having to part with this attractive tax and MOT exempt 4-door Morris because he has recently lost his storage space.
