Unveiled at the 1986 London Motor Show, the S Series TVR touched a rich vein in the market and was to become a saviour for the struggling firm.

The controversial wedge shape models launched only six years earlier were already starting to look a bit dated, the TVR traditionalist craving a car which harked back to the sharp little M Series that had ceased production in 1979. The new S Series took its styling cues from the discontinued model and well over 250 orders were on the books before production commenced.

Fitted with the sweet running 2.8-litre Ford Cologne V6, capacity soon increased to 2.9-litres delivering a fairly unstressed 170bhp and giving the lightweight S2 a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 130mph. Receiving various styling tweaks along the way, the model went through a number of iterations from S through to S4 with 2,604 produced in total before production came to an end in 1994.

First registered in March 1990, this Ice White S2 has covered only 54,000 miles to date and comes with a large history file to show careful maintenance including no fewer than 13 stamps in the service book and virtually all old MOTs to warrant the mileage. In 2014 it was fitted with a rebuilt chassis which should be good for another two decades.

It has a very smart blue leather interior with Willans harnesses and a Momo sports steering wheel and comes with the versatile targa roof with lift-out centre panels and a fold-away blue mohair rear hood section. Other equipment includes alloy wheels, a Tracker anti-theft system, an alarm and a Clarion stereo. Most importantly it is fitted with a stainless steel sports exhaust system which sounds awesome!

With just one owner since 2007, the car comes with the aforementioned history file and all its original handbooks. Said to drive beautifully with an impressive turn of speed, it has an MOT until June 2016 and is ready for a new owner to enjoy over the coming summer months. As an added bonus it also comes with eye-catching TVR number plates.

Please note that an HPI check shows that this car is recorded as ‘damaged on condition alert register’ in June 1996.
