Introduced by Honda to take a slice of the Harley-Davidson market, the amazing Goldwing quickly established itself as the most comfortable bike to ride when travelling Interstate, replacing the Hog’s familiar thunderous V-twin rumble with a subdued hum from its flat-four (later flat-six) engine.
First registered in January 1985, this well cared for Honda Goldwing GL1200DE has been owned by the vendor since 1991. Showing an indicated 75,000 miles from new, its 78-year-old owner ceased riding the machine in 2009 due to health reasons. Unused on the road since then, he has reluctantly decided that it is time for it to move on to a new owner.
Religiously serviced by him at the start of each season, recent new parts include fork seals, a replacement Hagen rear shock absorber, reconditioned electronic ignition by BDR Race Engineering in Norwich and a new rear tyre less than 200 miles ago. It even retains the original tool kit.
Complete with a full set of panniers, the seat is unscuffed and the original paintwork remains in excellent condition. The chrome is also in good condition along with the original plastics, testament to the way in which this machine has been cared for during its life.
Dry stored when not in use, the vendor has continued to regularly fire it up and bring it up to temperature, its most recent MOT expiring in June 2014. This lovely old machine is just itching for a new owner who can give it the more regular exercise it deserves.
