Audi used the excellent 80 as the basis for their handsome Coupe and Cabriolet models in the 1990s, although they were never badged as such.

Introduced alongside the B4 version of the 80, they employed a longer wheelbase and wider wheel arches, and featured a greatly strengthened screen surround which doubled as an effective roll bar. A simple but effective manual hood proved very reliable in operation. The Cabriolet and Coupe versions remained in production long after the 80 was replaced with the Passat-based A4, a direct replacement in the form of the A4 Cabriolet not arriving until 2002.

Fitted with the powerful yet economical 123bhp 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine, this stunning 1999 Cabriolet has covered just 2,221 dry miles from new and has been garage stored all its life. In 2007 the vendor had the cambelt changed due to its age at VAG Shrewsbury, the car sitting on its original tyres and still fitted with its original exhaust.
