Description Chevrolet TK Truck
Year 1937
Colour Orange
Engine size 3,548 cc

In 1937 Chevrolet were on a roll. They had just introduced their radically restyled Master passenger model, using the advertising slogan ‘The complete car, completely new’.

It had cost them an unbelievable $26m to retool, although was to pay handsome dividends, the Master topping the sales charts across America. The impressive new styling was the work of Jules Agramonte, designer of the stunning 1934 LaSalle. In true Chevrolet tradition, they also offered their passenger models adapted for a wide range of commercial applications, including the robust Master TK 1.5 ton truck, as on offer here.

For 1937, a strengthened version of the box girder frame was used along with a new engine, still featuring overhead valves, its capacity increasing slightly to 216.5 cubic inches (3,548cc). Four main bearings were used instead of three, the engine being rated at 85hp, the same as the Ford V-8.
They were extremely capable and dependable and could be fixed on any street corner and continued in production until replaced by the immortal AK series in 1941, the replacement model pickup visually distancing itself from the saloon car range for the first time.

Recently imported from America, this gorgeous Master TK Truck has been extensively restored and painted in the livery of a Harley Davidson delivery truck. The ink is still wet on the import documents, the vendor confirming that all duties are paid, the NOVA declaration submitted and the vehicle has been verified by the American Automobile Club. He has already submitted the application for registration in this country which he hopes will be through by the time of the sale.

The perfect promotion vehicle, or as potential ticket to the Goodwood Revival, this stunner is ‘on the button’ and looks enormous fun to drive.

AMENDMENT: Bidders are advised that VAT is payable on the sale of this lot and that the brakes are not functioning.
