In 1974 MG reacted to the new US regulations by introducing an updated car with rubber bumpers and a raised ride height - a pragmatic solution to the newly introduced minimum light height requirements.

This US spec car became standard across all markets, continuing until the final ‘B’ was produced in 1980. Their reliability, performance and excellent handling mean that there is no reason why they cannot be used every day.

This 1978 rubber bumper Roadster has recently been comprehensively rebuilt around an excellent bodyshell from the same year.  The replacement shell has remained largely untouched since new, the vendor describing the panel fit as good with very little sign of any previous work with a welder.

The mechanical elements are a direct transfer from the original, the engine and gearbox being in good, sound condition with any ancilliary parts being replaced as necessary. New seat covers and fresh paint ensure that this late model MGB looks very presentable, the car having recently passed an MOT which expires in June 2016.

These late rubber bumper cars incorporate all of the improvements made during the production life of the MGB and in many ways are a safer and more rewarding car to drive than the earlier models.

CATALOGUE AMENDMENT; MoT April 2016.
