History

If you had to pick the perfect colour combination for a TR6 you couldn't do much better than this. With glossy black paintwork and a red interior it looks absolutely sensational. First registered in April 1973 it has had just three owners in the last 28 years, all of whom have lavished a huge amount of time and money on the car, the landmark dates being 1984 and 2005 when it received major refurbishment  covering both bodywork and mechanical components.

The engine fitted to the car is an updated CP series which has a gas-flowed head and Piper Magnum camshaft, six branch tube manifolds, Lumenition electronic ignition, spin-off canister oil filter with updated Bosch fuel pumps, uprated timing chains and sprockets and a freeflow twin stainless steel SAH exhaust. The end result being an impressive 180+bhp.

This extra performance has to be tamed and in the suspension department this has been well catered for with the conversion to uprated GAZ adjustable shock absorbers with competition coil-over springs. The braking system has also been refurbished to provide appropriate stopping power.

The interior of the car was treated to a full retrim in 2005, with seating, door cards, door furniture and carpeting all in red to complement the black exterior. The bodywork was fully restored in April 2005 with new front wings, bonnet, front and rear valance panels, sills and new chrome bumpers front and rear. All this topped off with the addition of light alloy 6.5” wheels with new 185/70/15 tyres all round.

The car is said to drive superbly with an intoxicating noise, instant acceleration and excellent roadholding. Thanks to the fitment of the 'J' Type overdrive, the car is also said to be a comfortable cruiser on long journeys and last year completed a round trip to the classic Le Mans race with no problems encountered. If you do tire of the Triumph sound-track, the car is also fitted with a high quality JVC four speaker CD tuner.

With an extensive history file going back 26 years, taxed until August 2008 and with an MOT until April next year, this car is on the button and ready to go. Recently bought from one of our auctions, the car is only being sold due to a domestic dispute involving the relative merits of a new kitchen or an old car – we think you can guess which side won the argument...
