Originally established in 1911 by William Bown, the marque assembled small Villiers and JAP-powered machines in the 150cc-350cc range.
A move to Wales in the ‘50s saw the company focus on their small autocycles fitted with either 98cc or 123cc Villiers engines. Post 1955 they also marketed a re-badged Sachs-powered moped as a Bown with limited success. Too small to make a commercial go of things, they eventually went the way of the rest of the British motorcycle industry.
This seemingly complete example looks like a fun project. There is no paperwork to accompany the machine which is being offered at No Reserve. Bidders are advised that the registration number on the bike is no longer recognised by the DVLA.
