History
Triumph freshened up its TR range in 1968 and introduced the Karmann-styled TR6. The TR6 sported a more aggressive body with revised front and rear end styling although the centre section remained the same as the TR4-TR5. The straight-six fuel injected 150bhp 2,498cc engine also carried over from the previous TR5 model, although after 1972 it was changed for a milder 125bhp unit. Overdrive transmission became standard from 1974, working on 3rd and 4th gears and giving the car long legs for motorway cruising without sacrificing its essentially sporty nature.
This 1972 TR6 has had just three owners from new, the second of whom owned it for around 20 years. Unfortunately the history file was lost when he was posted overseas on United Nations business, but it is clear that the car has always been well looked after.
The current vendor is a member of the TR Club and has maintained it correctly throughout his ownership. Recent work includes fitting new propshaft UJs and a new hood. Said to drive very well indeed, the car is a desirable 150bhp model and has overdrive on the top two gears. MOTd until January 2008, it comes with a dust cover and a small quantity of spare parts.
