History
The second of the Frogeyes in our sale today, this particular car was manufactured by the Austin Motor Company SA in Blackheath, South Africa, in 1959 (as the Heritage Certificate in the history file confirms). It remained in those hot and sunny climes for the next 40 years, hence the excellent state of preservation you see today.
Imported to the UK in 1999 by its previous doctor owner, it was retained by him until 2003 when it was acquired by the current vendor who had fond memories of learning to drive in just such a car in his youth. It is now only reluctantly being sold because a recent hip operation means he can no longer hop in and out of the car like his former youthful self!
The car comes with lots of bills showing regular maintenance and has recently benefited from a new wiring loom, new king pins and new windscreen rubbers. It has a full set of wet weather gear including new sidescreens and a very good canvas hood. A workshop manual is also included. Said to drive very well indeed, the car is MOT'd until June 2008.
