Produced from 1976 until 1984, the R100RS was BMW’s top-of-the-range sports tourer with superb build quality and excellent road manners that was made for long distance touring. Power came from a 980cc four-stroke two cylinder horizontally opposed Boxer engine that produced 75bhp. Driving through a 5-speed gearbox it could reach 60mph in 4.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 125mph with 49mpg economy. Brakes were powerful dual discs at the front with a single disc to the rear.
This well cared for machine has had five former keepers and was first registered in April 1980. We are advised that it has covered a shade under 66,500 miles from new, although there is insufficient paperwork to substantiate this and that it has been used and enjoyed by its current owner, although he is now finding it a bit on the heavy side to manage comfortably these days.
MOTd until May 2016, it is ready to go and comes with a useful set of panniers, recent replacement silencers and its rather fun registration number OOO 950V….
