Launched in Japan in 1991, the 3000GT was Mitsubishi's answer to hi-tech missiles like the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Mazda RX7 and Toyota Supra.
Powered by a twin-turbo three-litre V6 that produced a conservative 280bhp and 315 lb/ft of torque, it could scorch to 60mph in 5.6 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
As you would expect for the £55,000 retail price, it was packed with technical features like full-time all-wheel-drive, four-wheel steering, active aerodynamics, a tuneable exhaust and electronically controlled suspension. Being Japanese, the gadgets all worked too.
The new model didn’t make its UK debut until 1992, this example being one of the first official UK cars brought in by Mitsubishi UK. A RHD manual example, unusually for a Japanese supercar of the era it has not been messed around with by the 'go faster' brigade and remains to standard specification.
We are advised that it has been comprehensively maintained through the Mitsubishi dealer network from new and has covered around 190,000 miles. The vendor adds that the engine remains strong and the bodywork in good condition, there being just a few areas that would benefit from some attention, principally the gear lever gaiter and driver’s seat which is starting to show its age.
An ideal candidate for someone that likes to ‘tinker and titivate’, it has remained unused since 2013, the vendor deciding that it needs a new owner to undertake the light recommissioning now required. On offer at No Reserve and with the personalised number K3 OGT included, this car has the potential to be the bargain of the sale.
