Introduced in 1965, the Pininfarina-styled MGB GT 2+2 was largely based on the convertible, but used a taller windscreen and new roof line.

The MGB range was an enormous success and its popularity as an affordable fun car has not diminished. Furthermore its 95bhp B-Series engine with twin 1 ½ “ SUs makes for a 105mph top speed with plenty of gutsy torque.

By 1974 the company had reacted to the new US crash safety regulations by introducing rubber bumpers front and rear, raising the car in the process to meet the lighting regulations. This US spec became standard across all markets, continuing on to the final production run in 1980. Their reliability, performance and excellent handling mean that there is no reason why MGBs cannot be used every day.

Dating from the very last year of production, this Blaze Orange GT was first registered in August 1980 and has had five owners to date. The vendor acquired the car about two years ago and has used it virtually as a daily driver since, reporting that it has always started well and driven nicely.

Parts recently fitted include a stainless steel exhaust; four new Continental tyres; new fuel tank; reconditioned starter motor; new brake and clutch flexi-hoses; new oil cooler hoses; new brake pads and an interior retrim. The car has also been recently serviced with new filters, fluids etc. An after-market CD player has also been fitted with iPod connectivity for in-car sounds.

A desirable overdrive model with a Webasto sunroof, it is described as being in generally good order throughout with reasonable bodywork. On the button and ready to go, it has an MOT until July 2106.
