History

The new range of Jaguar XJ6 models, powered by a 24-valve straight-six twin-cam AJ6 engine, as used in some models of XJS, was introduced in 1986 and replaced the outgoing XK engined models. The 4-litre version of the AJ6 engine, as fitted to this car, has fuel injection and catalyst and produces 235bhp with silky smoothness and commendable fuel economy. A four-speed automatic gearbox, electric front seats, air-conditioning, alloy wheels and an RDS sound system were all standard fitments, as was the classic walnut and leather lined cabin.

This example was first registered in June 1991 and used as a demonstrator by Evans Halshaw, the Birmingham Jaguar distributors. Finished in metallic champagne paintwork with beige leather, it is said to be in exceptionally clean condition throughout and still retains a full set of Jaguar tools in a green felt-lined case in the boot.

There is an owner's handbook and a complete service record showing work carried out by main dealers from new until 2002. MOT certificates dating back to 2000 show that approximately 20,000 miles have been covered in the last seven years, bringing the present mileage to under 134,000. Said to drive superbly it is due to have a fresh MOT before the sale.
