Mercedes introduced its TN (‘Transporter Neu’) van range in 1977 available either as a minibus or fitted with a cargo box body or flat cargo bed.
It was also available as an official M-B campervan conversion, being much larger than the rival Volkswagen Transporter, and was sold through the regular dealer network. A range of engine options were offered, from a 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol to a 2.8-litre five-cylinder diesel. All were immensely rugged and well-built machines that could clock up vast mileages with ease. The TN range was finally replaced by the Sprinter range in 1995 after 18 years in production.
First registered in August 1979, this particular motorhome has had just five owners from new and has been in the current ownership since 2004. It had 100,000 miles on the clock when the vendor acquired it, a total which has only risen by around 17,000 miles over his 12-year ownership. It is powered by the 2.4-litre diesel engine rated at 68bhp and 102lb/ft which gives it very respectable performance.
Fully kitted out with all the home comforts you could require, it is said to be in generally good order throughout and to drive well with an MOT until August 2016 with no advisories recorded. It also comes with some period sales literature plus instruction manuals on how to use and care for the various appliances fitted.
