NVT (Norton Villiers Triumph) was formed by the British government after the BSA Group, which had owned the Triumph name since 1951, found itself in financial difficulties in 1972.

The new conglomerate formed a consolidation of motorcycle manufacture in the UK, with various small capacity motorcycles added to the top-heavy range. These included the NVT and BSA Rambler (same bike, different name) which used Yamaha-sourced engines, and the Moto Morini-powered 49cc moped which was branded as the NVT or BSA Easy-Rider. Sadly, by this time the Puch Maxi and jewel-like small Hondas had taken hold of the market place, the Easy-Rider struggling to make its presence felt.

In the case of this BSA version, the Local Transport Manager of the Post Office in Doncaster must have felt some brand loyalty, taking delivery of this Post Office red machine in January 1987. It comes with an old style V5 recording just the one owner and two old MOTs, the speedo showing recording only 6,900 miles which obviously cannot be warranted.

Last taxed and on the road in 1991, it is still in running condition and is ready for new adventures – fancy a career in pizza delivery?
