Launched at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, the Alec Issigonis-designed Morris Minor went on to become one of the most successful British cars of all time with over 1,000,000 units sold by 1961 and production continuing right up until 1971.

It was conceived as a vehicle to combine many of the luxuries and conveniences of a good motor car with a price suitable for the working classes. Compared with competitor products throughout the 1950s, it excelled as a roomy vehicle with superior cornering/handling characteristics which continue to delight driving enthusiasts to this day.

First registered in October 1969, this Trafalgar Blue Morris 1000 two-door saloon has had just four owners from new and, according to the vendor, was owned for its first 38 years by a professional lady working in London who visited her country home near Portmadoc several times a year where the car was kept garaged and used by her chauffeur to ferry her around when she came to visit.

In 2007 it briefly passed to a second keeper before being acquired by the previous owner who restored it to its current smart condition in 2008-09 with many bills on file to substantiate this. The vendor acquired the car in June 2010 and has continued to look after it carefully as charted by various other bills on file.

During the current 5-year ownership it has clocked up some 7,000 trouble-free miles and is said to “start immediately and run beautifully”. Supplied with a good amount of history from new to warrant the current mileage of around 85,200, it also has records of all its previous owners plus an original driver’s handbook.

MOTd until 27th November 2016 with no advisories recorded and recently fitted with a new fuel pump, it is only reluctantly for sale as the vendor will shortly be moving abroad for a few years.
