Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996, the new Jaguar XK8 was the replacement for the venerable XJS which had in turn supplanted the E-Type.
Designed by Geoff Lawson, who had also penned the stunning XJ220, it shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7 to which it bore more than a passing resemblance. The first Jaguar ever with an eight-cylinder engine, its 4-litre V8 produced 290bhp and could waft the car to an electronically limited 155mph top speed.
This convertible XK8 was supplied new by W Webber Jaguar of Hampshire in April 1997 and has had just four owners to date. Looking most seductive with dark blue metallic paintwork and a cream hide interior, it has covered less than 67,400 miles from new with an excellent service history comprising 11 stamps to date, the last at just under 65,000 miles in October 2010.
The extensive specification includes electric heated memory seats, Harmon Kardon entertainment system, headlamp washers, heated front and rear screens, Valet mode, cruise control and a CD auto-changer in the boot. Appearing to be in very good condition throughout and driving beautifully at the time of our visit, the navy blue electric hood is also in good order and worked smoothly.
It comes with the aforementioned stamped service book, original handbook and owner’s wallet. The MOT expired in September 2015. This lovely low mileage convertible is just waiting for a good hot summer and is a sure-fire classic of the future with investment potential.
AMENDMENT - We now have a MoT until February 2017.
