Introduced in 1965, the Pininfarina-styled MGB GT 2+2 was based on the already incredibly successful convertible, incorporating a taller windscreen, new roof line and doors.

An instant hit, it delivered a more than respectable performance in an elegant and comfortable close-coupled coupe, helping the MGB to become one of the most successful sports cars of all time. By the time they ceased production in 1980, no fewer than 523,000 MGBs had left the works and according to the latest DVLA figures, an astonishing 36,000 are still registered on the system.

By 1974 the company had reacted to new US parking regulations by introducing rubber bumpers, raising the car in the process to meet changes to the lighting regulations. This US spec became standard across all markets, continuing until the final car left the factory in 1980. Their reliability, performance and excellent handling means there is no reason why an MGB can’t be used as an everyday car; just ask our very own Toby Service who uses his as a daily driver!

First registered in July 1977, this attractive British Racing Green GT has had just six owners from new, the vendor acquiring it in 2012 from a gentleman who had bought it in 2010 from someone who had owned it for 16 years. Clearly a much-loved machine, it comes with a good history file extending back to 1985 with a flurry of bills suggesting that it was substantially refurbished about six or seven years ago.

The most recent expenditure has included four new tyres and a new battery earlier this year while it had a fairly major service in 2012 when the rear seat covers were also renewed. In 2011 it had a new headlining and sunroof and the underside was also repainted.

Said to be in very smart order throughout and to drive well with an MOT until April 2017, it comes with two sets of keys, spare tyre, MGB Driver’s Handbook, Haynes workshop manual and a fitted dust cover.
