The MGB has to be one the easiest of all classic cars to restore: the availability of every part imaginable, at very modest cost and delivered to your door virtually the next day, plus the army of specialists on hand and the network of club members to lend moral support, means that you are never going to be left high and dry.
The best news of all though, is that after all the hard work is over, you end up with an MGB! There is good reason why they sold 523,000 of them during their 18 year production run. Plenty fast enough, they have a rapid and relaxed cruising gait thanks to the optional overdrive, safe and predictable handling and elegant looks, all characteristics that go a long way towards explaining the model’s continuing success.
The owner of this part-restored 1972 Roadster was sadly unable to complete the work due to ill health and has reluctantly had to give up his rented workshop. From long-term ownership, its last change of registered keeper took place in February 1983. The car has seen plenty of work already, including the fitment of a new nearside front wing, a new nearside rear wing and a good second-hand door.
This partially stripped car still starts, runs, drives and stops, the vendor stating that it is 95% complete. It comes with most of its interior, including its two seats and centre console, while on the outside it retains the chrome side strips along with the bumpers, lights and indicators.
The new owner of this tax-exempt chrome bumper MGB Roadster still has plenty to do, but it represents a running project that would appeal to someone who can weld and has a good selection of spanners! It is being offered at no reserve so the highest bid takes it.
