Sharp, clean and ruggedly handsome, the Karmann-styled TR6 looked far more modern than the TR roadsters of old and proved a huge hit with the sporting driver of the early 1970s.

With a sweet and lusty 150bhp 2.5-litre straight-six under the bonnet, it could sprint to 60mph in 8.2 seconds and topped out at 120mph. With powerful front disc brakes and independent front suspension, it had a firm sportscar ride and could be hustled along at exhilarating speed with a fabulous view down that long bonnet.

Dating from 1970, this Mimosa Yellow TR6 is an original UK car that has been extensively rust-proofed from new and is said to remain in wonderfully original and unmolested condition. The vendor states that, apart from some paintwork over the years, it shows no signs of any previous welding or significant restoration and nor does it need any.

Exported to Sweden in 1987 where it had just two owners, it has remained there until recently, always being kept garaged and used in the summer months only. Recently driven back to the UK with no problems whatsoever, it is said to drive well and pull strongly with overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th which works as it should.

Supplied with good tyres and a convertible soft top, it has not yet been UK registered but all duties have been paid and it has a NOVA reference so getting it registered here should be no more than a form-filling exercise and payment of the £55 fee.
