BSA's longest produced model, the Bantam was copied from the DKW motorcycle after World War Two, starting out as a rigid-framed 125cc machine in 1948 and being modified and improved until its demise 23 years later.
The first swinging arm framed machine was launched some 10 years after the first Bantams rolled off the production line, the frame finding its ultimate design the following year with the D7 model of 1959, which ran with few frame modifications until its final incarnation at the end of production. Over 250,000 Bantams were produced between 1948 and 1971 in engine sizes from 125cc to 175cc and in a variety of updated guises.
This particular D7 has clearly been restored at some time in the past and was last on the road in 2010. Its declared date of manufacture is 1960 according to the current V5C on file and the vendor reports that it is in running order. This nicely presented mid-period Bantam is on sale at no reserve so bid vigorously and it could be you who takes it home.
