The Mini Moke was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis at the same time as the Mini saloon and used identical engine, transmission and suspension parts. Although the pre-production prototype came out in 1959, full-scale production did not start until 1964. It was initially intended to be a parachute-dropped utility vehicle for the British Army, but they rejected it due to its small wheels and low ground clearance (though the Israeli army were later to use it with some success as a mobile machine gun platform). Some 14,500 Mokes were produced at BMC's Longbridge plant  between 1964 and 1968.

The Moke's real success came as a leisure car cum beach buggy and it became a cult vehicle in Australia, the US and many tropical holiday resorts. Apart from the official Mini offering, various other companies produced variants of the Moke in kit form, based on the Mini drivetrain and floor pan but with different body styles. One such was the Scamp which came in a variety of chunky Jeep-like styles including the one you see here.

Registered as a November 1960 Morris Mini, it was found in an outbuilding adjoining a house recently bought by the current vendor. The engine is said to run but we have not heard it doing so and cannot verify this. Supplied with a current V5C, it looks like it will require only relatively minor restoration to get it back on the road.
