Nippy yet frugal and with bags of character, the Mini has been a runaway success since it arrived on Britain’s roads in 1959.
Not long after the saloon had established itself in our hearts, it was inevitable that derivations should follow and the Mini was offered as an estate, van and pickup. The latter was produced in small numbers, being less popular than the van, and in 1978 it was re-named the Mini 95, a reference to the .95 ton gross vehicle weight, the model carrying on until 1983 when production finally came to an end.
This lovely 1979 pickup was purchased by the current custodian in 2012 as a hobby project and he promptly set about a thorough restoration. Although there are no bills for the work carried out, the results are plain to see and the pickup is now virtually showroom fresh throughout, both above and below.
The paintwork is superb and the original interior is very smart, unusually retaining its rare and original rubber mats. The black vinyl load cover is good as new and mechanically there are no known faults, the Mini driving beautifully on test.
Ready to be enjoyed at marque events or an ideal advertising platform for a small business, it comes with a V5C and five old MOTs back to 2008, the last of which expired in 2016 with no advisories recorded. Find a better one!
