The MGA is one of the prettiest of British post-War sports cars and a car that is a real joy to drive.
Brightwells’ regulars might recognize this particular example as we have had the pleasure of selling it in the past. Its first owner though, was Angela Crichton-Stuart, the car being first registered in the UK in January 1960. Miss Crichton-Stuart’s brother, Charlie, was a leading Formula 3 racing driver who went on to become Financial Director of Williams Grand Prix Racing.
Miss Crichton-Stuart kept the car for seven years before it passed into the hands of its second owner, who didn’t keep the car long. Its third owner however, hung on to it for the following 50 years, using it for trips at home and abroad.
The car is in amazingly original condition, with no apparent signs of significant restoration. Probably the only deviations from standard are the Mk2 radiator grille, Lumenition electronic ignition and work to enable it to run on unleaded petrol.
The car has its hood, side-screens, tonneau cover, luggage rack and radio just as it had when new. It also has its (transferable) original Gloucestershire number plate.
This is a largely untouched original car in nice, mellowed condition - it would be welcome at any classic car show and is a real driver’s car, one that, with careful conservation and use, will provide its next keeper with a lot of enjoyable motoring - 50 years, perhaps?
This appealing old MGA comes with its original buff logbook, a current V5C, a Heritage certificate and various invoices.
