It’s hard, now, to imagine the impact that the sleek Rover SD1 had back in the mid-1970s but the new model was a bit of stunner and was a worthy winner of the European Car of The Year Award in 1977.
This 1984 2000 Automatic still looks modern and you would scarcely believe the design is over 40 years old. It’s a roomy, comfortable car with a very smart interior including a new headlining and brown velour upholstery that is soooooo ‘70s. The gold paintwork and bronze-tinted windows are also spot on for the period.
B969 UJO has had a recent gearbox rebuild, new torque converter and propshaft overhaul at a cost of almost £900. The headlining has also been replaced. The mileage on the speedometer says 57,450 and the overall condition of the car and the MOT history would indicate that this is more than likely genuine.
The car had a major service in September 2017 at a cost of £500 and has only covered around 1,500 miles since. It also had four new tyres fitted in April this year, and has an MOT to November 2019 with no advisories recorded. It has had just four owners to date, two from the same family, and has been in the current ownership for eight years.
To add icing to the cake, the car also comes with quite a collection of ‘new old stock’ genuine BL spares including: five front wings (two offside, three nearside); two complete front quarter panels; inner and outer sills (pair of each); a front and rear bumper; bonnet; tailgate; nearside front door and a grille. There are also some good used parts so you are almost getting two cars for the price of one!
Documentation includes a collection of invoices, correspondence, an original handbook and sales brochure, BL and Haynes repair manuals, various catalogues and magazines plus an MOT until November 2019 with no advisories recorded. The vendor is a long-time Rover enthusiast and has lavished a great deal of care and attention on this car in the eight years he has owned it so the new owner should have little to do other than enjoy driving it.
AMENDMENT: Not 2 front quarter panels but 2 rear quarter panels.
