The13/60 Herald was the ultimate iteration of the little Triumph saloon and probably the best of the lot. Engine size was up to 1,296cc, power output was a handy 62bhp, the gearbox had overdrive, and the handling problems of the earlier cars had been largely ironed out. And the turning circle was, as we all know, the smallest of any production car (25ft).
This 1969 Wedgwood Blue 13/60 is a tidy example that is not perfect but does not seem to suffer from the ravages of rust or poor quality repair work that is too often evident in these cars. There is plenty of evidence of Waxoyl around the car, which could explain its sound condition.
There are also servicing records going back to 1998, and 18 past MOTs which indicate that the car may have covered less than 60,000 miles but this cannot be warranted and it should be noted that the current speedometer was fitted in July 2018. The last MOT expired in June of this year with no advisories recorded.
On offer here from a deceased estate, the car is in very presentable condition and could be turned into a real cracker with some gentle TLC over the winter. The Herald is an easy car to work on – all the panels unbolt – and engine bay access is second to none.
