The Aston DB7’s sleek coupe design was the work of Ian Callum. Production was cleverly planned, with completed shells painted by Rolls Royce at Crewe with final assembly taking place in the former XJ-220 plant in Bloxham near Banbury.
The cars received a universally enthusiastic reception and sales hit at a high level from the start; by 1995 some 15 cars a week were being produced.
The 450bhp V12 Vantage engine was coupled to a six speed touchtronic automatic transmission which put performance in the supercar league. By 1999, just a year into production, sales of the DB7 had all but eclipsed those of the six-cylinder models.
This stunning April 2000 Vantage has had just three owners from new, the current since 2003 and is finished in Derwent Green with cream hide piped green, green dash top roll and carpets and Burr Elm trim. Supplied new by JCT600 who looked after the car for its initial stamped services, from then on it was Aston Mayfair, London until its current owner relocated to Herefordshire permanently.
The car has only covered 54,312 miles and has been enjoyed on several jaunts to Scotland, Biarritz, and regular journeys to London before our vendor’s retirement. In recent years, the car has been maintained by Doverman’s of Hereford where the last trip saw an overhaul of the air-conditioning system amongst other things at a cost of around £3,000.
Buyers should note the car is not sold with the private plate pictured, this is to be retained at the point of sale and it will return to an age-related number. The history file includes the owners pack and service booklet showing eight stamps including the PDI, a host of service and maintenance invoices from more recent times along with its current MOT which runs until August 2019.
