The Sisley was the dressed-up version of Fiat’s go-anywhere Lilliputian off-roader. There are those who would laugh at this diminutive 4x4 but anyone with any real experience of them will know just how handy they are across rough terrain, capable of going places that the current crop of overgrown urban tractors can only dream about.

In truth, the Panda, in its 4x4 guise was built by Steyr Daimler Puch who have years of experience producing really serious off-roaders for the military and the emergency services. Powered by Fiat’s 999cc FIRE engine the Sisley is also a great car to drive on the road. The power may not be massive (45bhp) but the engine is free-revving, virtually indestructible, and mated to a semi-close-ratio gearbox that encourages spirited driving (while remaining perfectly within the law, officer).

This 1990 Panda has had over £3,000 spent on it in the past four years or so. This has included new sills and repairs to the floor, new brake calipers, fuel pump, shock absorbers and suspension components. It also has a rather nice set of late Panda alloy wheels (and six spare steel wheels) and has always been well cared for with no fewer than 16 stamps in the service book over its 81,319 miles to date.

While it does have an MOT to February 2020 with no advisories, it is in need of some work and there are two new doors supplied with the car. The repair work is certainly worthwhile as the Panda is a handy little car to have around (especially if you live a little ‘off-grid’) and the prices of these cars are on the rise. This increase is fuelled by their increasing rarity and by the growing realisation that they are such a practical proposition.

AMENDMENT; The vendor was going to put the car through an MOT this month, but it failed on a minor headlight issue. He is sourcing the part, but it will not have an MOT at the time of sale.
