Up there with hens’ teeth and honest politicians, this 2006 Alfa Romeo 156 is a rare thing. It is, as you will have spotted, the GTA version with the fabulously willing 3.2 litre V6 24-valve engine and Selespeed gearbox. Only 348 right-hand-drive models were imported and of those only seven had the Ferrari-derived Selespeed gearchange system.
This one has a fully documented service history from new and has been in the hands of only three enthusiast owners. The first owner kept the car from October 2006 to June 2015 and had it regularly serviced by Lyles of Newcastle, who are Alfa main dealers.
The second owner was the top man at Alfa specialists Autolusso of Bournemouth, who owned the car for around three years. During that time the car was gone over with obsessive attention to detail at a cost of £7,234 – with £4,000 of that spent on parts.
Our vendor bought the car late last year, but was almost immediately taken by a younger, more attractive Italian model – it happens to all of us – and bought himself a new Giulia Quattrofoglio (you know: 500bhp, 0-6- in 3.6, “Performance car of the Year” etc, etc).
Offered now with 125,108 miles on the clock (and the service records to back that up) FE06 HUH is looking for its next enthusiast owner. Impressive in appearance as well as performance, the car sits on black powder-coated ‘teledial’ wheels with diamond cut faces fitted with – what else? –Pirelli P Zero tyres. The service record is available for examination and the car has a current MOT to September 2019.
This is a rare opportunity to own a rare modern classic that has been described as having engines by Alfa, pricing by Fiat, styling by God. Is there a better one out there? Unlikely.
