This FWD Triumph 1300 TC is a rare car in its own right, made rarer still because of its fantastically original condition and low mileage - so much so in fact that Triumph World magazine felt it necessary to feature the car in a four-page piece in their July 2009 issue.
This little gem was first registered in January 1969 and boasted the twin-carb 75bhp 1,296cc engine driven through four speed manual transmission giving extra pep over its more sedate stablemates, effectively becoming the Spitfire MkIII for the family man. The car shows just 21,000 miles, believed genuine and is finished in Valencia blue with brown vinyl interior and wood cappings. Such is this car’s originality, even the rear door cards are still wrapped in their protective factory plastic and the original first tax disc is still present in the windscreen.
The car has had just four owners, the first until 1979 when he is believed to have retired from driving and garaged the car for the next 17 years, as detailed in the magazine article, a copy of which is included in the history file.
The history file also contains a selection of invoices, both historic and more recent, along with 24 old MOTs, a works manual, magazines, parts manuals and a few boxes of useful spare parts ‘just in case’, copies of the original log book and a very nice period sales brochure, which upon reading made your cataloguer want this particular car even more – sales job, done!
The car looks extremely smart and as you might expect, the interior is a time-warp. Its raspy exhaust note hints at those extra few horses associated with the TC spec under the bonnet, this delightful 1960s time-capsule offers unrepeatable originality and quality and looks a must for the discerning Triumph collector.
