The first Triumph to receive the all-new design which incorporated the engine and gearbox into a rationalised ‘unit construction’, the T21 was so called because it not only celebrated the 21st anniversary of the Triumph Engineering Company but it also described the engine capacity in cubic inches (important for the American market).
This sparkling 1959 T21 3TA still has the 'Twenty One' name blazoned on the side of its voluminous rear bodywork or ‘bathtub’, as it is popularly known. There is no real history with the bike but it has clearly been well restored at some point in the not-too-distant past and still looks great today.
Our vendor acquired it in 2002 to join his collection and has used it only lightly, an old MOT showing that it has covered a mere 434 miles since 2004 when it had just one mile on the clock, this being perhaps the total distance it has travelled since the restoration was completed (the speedo shows only 435 miles). In good running order when put into storage a few years ago, it may benefit from a precautionary check-over before being ridden once more.
