This lovely old 2000SC (single carburettor) has been in single family ownership all its life. Bought new by our vendor’s uncle in February 1969, this manual gearbox P6 has covered just 44,383 miles in the hands of its three owners. The car was transferred to the wife and then to our owner, the nephew (all named Jones, recorded on the logbook).
The car was subsequently laid up in storage for 18 years. Largely original and unrestored bar a respray in its original white around year 2000, the car retains all its period features with a lovely black leather interior with all period fixtures bar a later radio cassette dating from the 90s and black vinyl as per the Series II cars added to the rear C pillars.
Although we did not have the opportunity to inspect the documents at the time of cataloguing, we understand from the elderly vendor there is a file of documentation dating back to its early days along with owner’s manual and service booklet with period stamps. We’d suggest a look at the documents folder prior to the sale to satisfy yourselves of what’s there. The car is obviously now MOT exempt, but the last ticket expired in July 2018 with just two advisories. The annual mileage between tests showing only a hundred miles, if that per year.
Although the car is not perfect, it’s a time capsule nonetheless and retains that period charm so often lost with over-restored cars. Reluctantly for sale due to the vendors advancing years, deteriorating health and lack of power steering, he feels its time for this P6’s story to go on to another chapter.
