One four 205GTis in this auction and the only one that can genuinely be called a project. Our vendor had ideas of restoring the car and did spend £2,000 on it in 2004, then life got in the way.
In fact, our vendor has owned the car twice – once from 1988 to 1994 - and then he sold it to a friend from whom he bought it back in 2003. The car has, therefore, only had three owners – the first owner kept it from new to 1988. Got that?
The work carried out in 2004 was done by Skip Brown Cars and Components in Tarporley, Cheshire and included overhauling the brake system, replacing the cam belt and tensioner, new fuel lines and filter, new radiator, bleeding the cooling system, etc, etc, etc. That’s what the bill says: “etc, etc, etc.” There’s nothing like being specific. And that’s nothing like being specific.
The car has been storage for some time and does not have a current MOT. The vendor hopes to have it running in time for the sale but it will need some attention before it hits the road again.
Offered with No Reserve, this 205 does need some work, but it offers an economic entry into ‘80s hot hatch ownership and – as the other 205GTis in the sale show – these cars are commanding quite good prices.
Let us hope that you do not find yourself bidding against the vendor – well he has bought it twice already, so it may be habit forming.
