The story of this 1968 E-Type is very simple and somewhat tragic. Back in 1994 the car was acquired from its first owner by Dr Robert Taylor of Caerleon, who took it apart to restore it. Sadly, he died before he could finish the job.
Offered for sale is a – mostly – complete Series 1½ 4·2-litre E-Type that has been disassembled for approximately 35 years. It has suffered a little over the years but is not beyond rescue.
The Heritage Certificate issued for the car shows that it was manufactured in July 1968 and was a right hand drive car in British Racing Green with Suede Green interior. The engine and chassis numbers listed in the certificate match those on the car. The engine and gearbox were stored in Dr Taylor’s house and, so, are in better condition than the rest of the car.
The car has a DVLA logbook but – apart from the Heritage Certificate - there is no other paperwork with it. What you see really is what you get.
The car is a blank canvas upon which an experienced restorer can create the E-Type he wishes: authentically original, Lightweight Replica, Works Le Mans recreation – or something more radical. Your choice. It is offered with No Reserve so will be sold to the highest bidder.
AMENDMENT - According to DVLA records included in the sale, Dr.Taylor was in fact the 5th regeistered keeper of this vehicle
