One of three ‘60s Minxes in this auction, but the only one with a tin top – this one is offered at no reserve.
AVG 658D is a nice old thing but is looking a little tired in a few areas, although nothing serious we have been advised. This De Luxe Minx had its last MOT in June 2017 and passed with no advisory notes and has only done 331 miles since. It comes with a current V5C.
The car drove sweetly enough for the photographic session and our man on the spot had visions of turning it into a classic Monte Carlo rally contender but then realised that he couldn’t do it on what we pay him.
The car appears to be an honest, unmolested survivor in way above average condition but mid ‘60s Minxes were not exactly complex cars and, bodily at least, the car looks to need no major work. The interior is very tidy (though the definition of “De Luxe” must have been stretched back then) and it would not take an advanced degree in engineering to slip in a late Avenger engine or even a 1,725cc Rapier lump). Or perhaps you could just enjoy it as it is.
