Anyone who has sat through a Wagner opera would agree that subtlety is not a German strong point, however, this 1990 BMW might cause them to think again.
A four-door saloon with subdued styling and a restrained colour scheme it is, surely, a 5-Series much like any other 5-Series? Only the 17” Throwing Star alloy wheels give the game away – those and the M5 badge.
It is, of course, an E34 M5 with 3,535cc straight six producing 311bhp and capable of 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and a tops speed (electronically restricted) of 150mph. We are told it is the desirable 3.6-litre model and is fitted with Nurbugring suspension and electric sports seats.
H206 FJB has been part of a private collection and has effectively been off the road for nearly nine years. During that time it has been carefully stored and was last serviced in 2013. It had its last MOT in 2009 – having had a new windscreen and coil spring fitted - when it passed with no advisories and has covered only 555 miles since.
The car has covered a total of 86,136 miles and this is supported by the service booklet, which shows that the car received regular attention, mostly from BMW dealers. It retains its correct handbook and there are some invoices on file.
H206 FJB is in lovely condition inside and out and the service record combined with BMW’s legendary build quality would suggest that this is a car ready to reward its new owner with many more miles of trouble-free high performance motoring.
