Transported – sorry: exported to Australia in 1949, this Bristol 400 made it back to this country fifty years later and was first registered here KXS 451 in February 2019. The climate down under has done wonders for the car and it appears in remarkably sound condition.
The car was previously painted metallic blue but received a much more subdued colour scheme (black!) some time ago; the white wings are a more recent addition. The interior has been refurbished to a very high standard (even the boot) and is extremely smart with new leather upholstery, headlining, renovated woodwork and re-plated brightwork.
The brakes have been recently refurbished and the majority of the electrical system has been re-wired and the car started and ran well for our photographic session.
One of Britain’s finest post-war cars, the 400 established Bristol’s reputation as a builder of elegant, high quality, sporting cars. Fewer than 500 cars were produced between 1947 and 1950 and are much sort after today, with prices rising steadily in recent years.
Eligible for a number of prestigious events including the Mille Miglia, this car is offered for sale with a very reasonable estimate and a great deal of potential.
