First registered on the first of January 1975, this September ’74 built car is one of the last of the genuine chrome bumper models.
The Heritage certificate confirms that it was originally painted Aconite, a rare colour on any MGB and delivered through Dove Ltd in Croydon. It was fitted with Rostyle wheels and an overdrive.
There is an extensive history file, full of invoices which date back as far as the early ‘80s. There are 17 old MOTs on file, its most recent expiring in 2017 which showed no advisories at the time. It is of course MOT exempt.
There is a photographic record of a comprehensive restoration, sometime in the 1990s by the looks, which included new front and rear wings, sills, door skins and its subsequent refinish in the original colour. This work has stood the test of time well.
The vendor fitted new seat covers (in the correct Autumn Leaf) in 2016 and a replacement brake servo last year. The engine has a tubular manifold and the car has the useful single 12v battery conversion.
This is a completely straightforward MGB GT, which of course accounts for much of their appeal. They are easy to own, drive, insure and maintain, yet are still good to drive, especially when fitted with the overdrive which transforms the MGB GT into something usable every day. It has been driven some 50 miles to the sale.
