This very original MGA Coupe was purchased by a Hertfordshire businessman for his wife in October 1957. In August 1963 it was sold to the son of some friends nearby with around 22,000 miles on the clock to make way for a new MGB which had only recently been launched.

The new owner used the MGA on a regular basis through to 1968 when the previous owner's MGB became available. At that point his younger brother was keen to take over the reins so 8 LML stayed in the family. Some time in the early '70s the new owner (by this time married) realised that a family car was more appropriate for his needs and duly purchased an MG 1100. Both brothers were by now very attached to the MGA and decided to take half shares and keep it between them.

This arrangement continued right through to 2003, with the 'A' spending part of the year in Suffolk and the remainder in Berkshire. From 2003 she became a permanent resident in Berkshire but by 2010 the advancing age of the owner meant she was being used less and less and it was reluctantly decided that the time had finally come to let her go.

Our vendor heard about the MG and quickly snapped her up. He has used her as a weekend car over the past 9 years, taken her to local shows and kept her well maintained. An imminent move to the West Country and consequent loss of storage have again forced a reluctant sale.

Presented in good, usable condition, she was repainted in 1986 in her original Mineral Blue (a colour only available for Coupes) and retains her original engine which has still only covered some 115,000 miles from new, being converted for unleaded fuel in 2003 and getting a replacement camshaft at the same time. The only deviations from standard are the fitting of seat belts, additional gauges, a Kenlowe fan and Mk2 side lights.

Honest and original and accompanied by a wonderful history file which includes the original buff logbook and invoices going back to 1963, this lovely MGA is looking for an enthusiastic new owner to take her on the next part of her journey.

MGA Coupes were a rare sight in the austere Britain of the ‘50s with new cars in short supply due to the Government's export drive and a punitive rate of purchase tax. To find an original Home Market example such as this with two family owners plus one enthusiast from new is little short of a miracle!

Currently registered as 206 XVD, the original number of 8 LML (valued at £6,000) will be reassigned to the car and included in the sale at the reserve price or above.
