Supplied new to its fortunate first owner in August 1990, this top-spec Benz must have been a rare sight on UK roads as very few W126 560SECs were sold here.

Forward motion came from a superbly smooth and powerful 5.5-litre V8, which was more than sufficient to waft this sleek pillar-less coupe along the Autobahn or the wide-open roads in the States, where the majority of these bruisers were sold.

Finished in desirable Nautic blue paintwork with full light grey leather and walnut trim inside, the car looks to be well optioned with electric memory seats, automatic electric seat belt butlers, sunroof, air con, two-tone town and country horns, cruise control, electric rear blind, front and rear arm rests and seat warmers.

The car rides on a set of later five-spoke AMG alloy wheels from the early 2000’s SLK/CLK series which may divide opinion, but nevertheless, the car still looks purposeful and retains its quality feel.

The history file includes the V5C, sundry invoices and service book showing some 16 stamps including an early speedo change at 12,500 miles. Upon inspection of the MOTs, the car looks to have had another speedo change at around 110,000 miles in 2010. The car currently shows 91,000 miles – suggesting the total to be approximately 130,000 miles.

Whatever, that's nothing for these big lazy V8s. The car comes with a recent MOT running until June 2020 with just one advisory recorded for cracking to the rear tyres.
