The BSA A7 was launched in 1946 and remained in production until 1961 being gradually improved over that time through two versions, the Star Twin from 1949 and the Shooting Star from 1954. The culmination of the development of the A7, the Shooting Star had an alloy cylinder head, a duplex cradle frame with swinging arm rear suspension, full-width light alloy hubs and 8-inch drum brakes. Engine compression was upgraded from 6.6:1 to 7:1 and power was up to 30bhp at 5800rpm, with a top speed of just under 90mph.

Dating from 1955, this Shooting Star has been in the current ownership since 1982. The bike had just been fully restored when the vendor acquired it and has seen show use only since. It is said to remain in very good condition throughout and to start and run well although it has only covered 94 miles since the restoration was completed. It is only reluctantly being sold due to a recent hip operation which means the vendor can no longer start or ride it.
