Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996, the stunning Jaguar XK8 Coupe was the replacement for the venerable XJS which had in turn supplanted the E-Type.
Designed by Geoff Lawson, who had also penned the stunning XJ220, it shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7 to which it bore a more than passing resemblance. The first Jaguar ever with an eight-cylinder engine, its 4-litre V8 produced 290bhp and could waft the car to an electronically limited 155mph top speed. With magnificent ride and handling characteristics, it made a fine long distance tourer and offers huge value in the current market.
Supplied new through Mead of Burnham in 1997, this example has had a total of 5 owners who have regularly serviced the car. The service book has 13 service stamps and an email on file shows that a new engine was fitted by Jaguar in May 2002 when the mileage indicated 68,500 miles (a total which has now risen to some 99,000 miles).
Fitted with an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust and sports grille, the vendor advises us that the original grille will be included in the sale should the new owner wish to revert the car to standard specification. Fresh from a service with Monkmore Motors of Hereford, it is MOTd until February 2015 and will be sold with a fitted car cover.
With its relatively recent engine and good maintenance record, this XK8 comes in a most attractive combination of dark red metallic exterior and light beige leather interior and looks particularly good value for money at the suggested guide price.
