Honda's first foray into the sports 250cc market, the CB72 which was a sports version of the earlier C72, likewise the CB77 was the bigger brother based on the earlier C77.
Both CB machines shared the stylish bodywork and excellent finish lacking in many period British machines and for their day had excellent handling. Many ended up on the race track with a race kit available to take the CB77 up to a full 350cc race spec and the necessary go faster goodies associated with racing.
The CB77 was a stretched version of the CB72, an increased bore size taking the cubic capacity up to 305cc, raising it above the 250cc learner limit that was currently in place. This made it a relative rarity on the road compared to the much more plentiful CB72 250cc on British roads.
The fine looking machine offered here was first registered on 1/3/1965 and we are told was fully restored in 2007 at a considerable expense. Now eligible for VMCC classic status, this would make a fine machine for club runs, Honda's legendary reputation for keeping it's oil inside the engine and the benefit of an electric start would make it an easy machine to live with.
