The utilitarian but charming Morris Minor was designed under the direction of Alec Issigonis and was unveiled at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show.
Initially built as a two-door saloon or convertible, the line-up was soon extended to include a four-door saloon and a wood-framed estate, the Traveller. Closed van and pick-up versions followed in 1952. The final incarnation of the Minor was the 1000 series of 1956, easily identifiable by its curved one-piece windscreen. Capacity of the 30hp 803cc A-Series engine was eventually increased to 1098cc to give 48bhp. Between 1948 and 1971, over 1.3 million Morris Minors of all types were built.
This distinctive 1967 Morris Minor 1000 Pick-up has had thousands spent on it to create the one-off vehicle you see here. Apart from the obvious flat bed rear, modifications include extending the chassis and fitting purposeful wider wheels. The interior boasts a sports steering wheel, light blue door cards, black vinyl seats and new blue carpets. A radio cassette has also been fitted.
We are told that it has also had a thorough mechanical overhaul and a new clutch fitted, although the vendor says this may need some adjustment as occasionally the Morris is hesitant to get into gear. With its complementing trailer (which actually fits inside the truck), this born-again Morris would make a distinctive business or advertising vehicle.
Charmingly eccentric but practical too, this is obviously one for the man or woman with a particular plan rather than the more casual classic buyer. As such, you and it will probably know if you are right for each other the moment that you meet. MOTd and taxed until next March, your on-the-road relationship is ready to begin right away.
