No, we don't really know what this is either, but having sold a similar item before, we believe it is probably a drop tank for carrying aviation fuel and may well come from an ‘80s vintage Tornado combat aircraft.
It seems to have been made by British Aerospace and is constructed mainly from aluminium. The vendor points out that it can be shortened or lengthened by the simple expedient of unscrewing the sections and either adding or removing them.
It has lately been used as a prop at an outdoor paintballing centre to create a suitably ‘war zone’ atmosphere. At around 20 feet long, it could make an excellent basis for a Bonneville Streamliner. Or you could just mount it on a launcher in the front garden and scare the pants off your neighbours.
For all we know it could just as well be a live missile so could all tyre kickers please treat it with some respect. We don't want to wipe Leominster off the map just yet.
Whatever it is, it looks like a lot of fun and is being offered here with no reserve so the bravest bid takes it.
