In continuous production since 1958, the Honda Super Cub range is the most widely produced vehicle in history, with a staggering 60 million made by 2008.

Variants included the C50, C65, C70, C90 and C100, with four-stroke engines ranging in capacity from 48cc to 109cc, with numerous improvements and model changes throughout the course of production. Honda's sales slogan, ‘You meet the nicest people on a Honda’, did much to convert non-motorcyclists to two-wheeled transport, the small, oil-tight, reliable and quiet Super Cub introducing many new customers to the joys of the open road, many of them going on to purchase Honda’s bigger machines, becoming motorcyclists almost by accident. The CL50A was the first variant to use CDI ignition replacing the points type ignition used on earlier models, the electrics being upgraded to 12 volts at the same time.

First registered in April 1982, VLY 639X is presented in unrestored original condition, with some corrosion in evidence to the rear of the bodywork. Acquired by the Stondon Museum in 1997, it is an ideal candidate for restoration and, being 33 years old, qualifies for classic status. It comes with a V5C registration document and original owner’s handbook.
