Launched in 1989, the Discovery was Land Rover’s attempt to fill the gap between the utilitarian Defender and the luxury Range Rover, providing stylish everyday transport for urbanites who might only occasionally want to get the wheels dirty.
Being based on the chassis and drivetrain of the Range Rover it was, of course, hugely capable off road but with all the comforts of a well-equipped family saloon including a wonderfully airy and spacious interior that was the work of the Conran Design Group. A range of engine options were available from a 111bhp 2.5-litre diesel to a 181bhp 3.9-litre petrol V8.
Dating from April 1999, this 2.5 Tdi County 5-door was supplied new to Japan and returned to these shores in August 2007 at which point it had just under 30,000 miles on the clock. With just one UK owner to date, the mileage has now risen to just under 83,000 with a good service history to show regular maintenance while in the UK.
Looking most attractive in Cobar Blue metallic with the traditional Disco grey/blue interior, it is very well equipped with 7 seats, twin sunroofs, air conditioning, twin airbags, tow pack, XS style seating, freestyle alloys, side runners etc. Said to be in very good order throughout and to drive well with an MOT until June 2016, it looks excellent value at the sensible guide price suggested.
